Berta and I wish to express our love and joy to you during this Advent and Christmas season. You are a blessing to us and we give thanks for you to God. May God richly bless you this coming year in ways that will be a sign of his love for you.
As a Christmas present to you this year I have decided that I will “NOT” write a story for you! Sometimes my stories are not understood and I get that “Dog whistle Look” from some of you. You remember “A Star over Bat-lehem” or maybe “The Three Amigos” who visited the man-ger, or maybe “A Star over Bedlam”. Anyway – no story this year. Just some Christmas Trivia.
Isaac Newton was born on December 25th, 1642. He was the man who discovered the law of gravity. For the rest of this Christmas season, I would like to repeal the law of gravity and im-pose the law of levity in its place. So “lighten Up.”
In Britain the day after Christmas is known as Boxing Day. It became known as Boxing Day because it was the day when presents were given in boxes to the postmen. Maybe we should have a day for “Federal Express” and “UPS”. We could call it “FED-UP” day. It is nice to remem-ber that the giving or receiving of presents need not end with Christmas.
It is also nice to have a day off to recover from an excess of the Christmas festivities. On the day after Christmas, let us celebrate a new time that God is giving us, and the end of the Christmas shopping season!!!!!!
If we are honest, for various reasons, some of us don’t expect much at Christmas. Life tends to beat optimism out of us. We suffer various things which drown out the angelic voices. We figure that Christmas is only for children.
Early in the 19th century, when Kentucky was still pretty much a wilderness, a man re-turned home to a little community near Hodgensville. He had been on a trip to Elizabethtown. Upon his return, a neighbor cornered him, anxious to hear news of the outside world.
After relating news from Washington and the wars in Europe, the traveler asked the neighbor if anything exciting had happened around Hodgensville. The neighbor replied, “Oh, nothing much. Mrs. Lincoln had a baby boy. Heard they named him Abraham. Nothing ever happens around here. . . . .”
As you spend these Christmas holidays, you too may believe that “nothing ever happens around here,” but don’t be too sure. God may have some surprises in mind for you this Christ-mas. “SUPPLIES”! (for those who understand the inside joke)
Receive that prophecy and “remember the bees.” There is more going on than meets the EYE!
Merry Christmas from the Pitzers.. . . .
To our Church Family,
We appreciate all that you do for us throughout the year because you are the voice and the hands and feet of Jesus to us in so many ways. During this time when we celebrate the birth of Jesus, our very reason for existence, you’ve overwhelmed us with your generosity!!! Thank you for giving of yourselves to us financially (loved the Christmas bonus), baked goods, funny gifts, and the thoughtful ones.
May 2014 be filled with great joy as you experience the power of God’s love for YOU. Our grandchildren were just here and Keira asked me, “Grandma, why do you have bees everywhere?” I had Jack tell his story of the bees and I said, “I need a reminder that there’s always a whole lot more going on than meets the eye”. God is with you even when you don’t see him.

My Dear Church Family,
Thank you so much for all your love and support during this difficult time. Your notes, calls, meals, flowers and your presence at Jeff’s visitation and funeral all meant so much. Those of you who helped and provided food for the funereal dinner—it was just perfect! Despite the sadness, it was a great day of celebrating Jeff’s life. And I have you to thank for being there for me and helping me through. Love, Michele Slunder
To the Lampstand Body of Christ,
Thank you for your many gifts throughout this year. You hugged me and made me laugh when I wanted to cry. You prayed for me when I couldn’t find the words. Your many acts of kindness remind me that love is the strongest gift we can give one another. God bless each of you! – Marsha Haycraft
